About me

I’ve always been fascinated by words. More specifically, what happens when you put them together and break them apart. Chalk it up to discovering George Carlin at too young an age. Once I heard the “Seven Words You Can Never Say On Television” (and just to be safe, let’s add “Or About Me Sections”) I was off to the races.

That fascination slowly turned into a handy skill. Everything became easier because I knew how to express myself. Talking a teacher out of lost points on late homework. Convincing my grandfather I had to have whatever my fixation was at the time. Getting laughs at the lunch table. It was all fun and games until high school when - stop me if you’ve heard this one before - I had my first English teacher who told me I had a talent for writing. I haven’t put the pen down ever since.

Today, I’m still fascinated by words… only now I’m armed with the knowledge of a dozen college courses that all made me read Plato. I breakdown everything I read for parts and bring some back for my own toolkit. It’s fun, but it’s also powerful. One well written phrase can bring understanding, can make someone feel seen, can even bring about change. That’s what I love about getting to write for a living.
